Join me in San Diego, California to immerse yourself in the art of bird photography. This exclusive instructional photo safari is limited to eight (8) participants for a personal experience that you can’t get from the big tours. I offer “ask me anything” instruction during the safari to ensure you’re getting the best quality images. Because of the small group size, I’m able to offer a more intimate instructional style that allows each participant to get the knowledge they need to succeed.
This workshop is perfect for photographers who wish to capture portraits of birds and wildlife, plus hone their skills on photographing birds in flight. We will have the opportunity to photograph numerous species, including pelicans, cormorants, gulls, and terns. We will also likely encounter sea lions and other wildlife on the beaches, and have the opportunity to get some nice sunsets and environmental shots.
Each day, we will download and process our images together as a group, get critiques, and learn new techniques to make your photos into fine-art masterpieces. I will work with you to capture and process the best possible images into beautiful finished products.
Join me to photograph New York City at night! I’ve got one space left to join me in New York City May 31-June 3rd for a special twilight/night photography urban photo safari in New York City. This unique event is limited to six (6) photography enthusiasts who want to experience Manhattan in the magical evening hours. I’ve deliberately kept the group size small so that I can provide you with individual attention and so that you can focus on your personal growth as a photographer.
We will head out each afternoon on a photowalk to explore the city and then finish at an iconic site for sunset, twilght, and night photography. I will teach you creative techniques in the field for capturing unique photographs you will be proud to share. Every morning, we will have group image review sessions and I will provide “ask me anything” sessions on workflow and post-processing. Group lodging in New York City is available (not included in workshop fee).
I’m excited to announce that I’ve arranged for a 10-night private photo tour to Scotland! On this small group (max 10) tour, we’ll have a private coach and 4-star accommodations as we tour the countryside from Stirling to Loch Lomond. As your leader, I’ll be working with each participant to help you discover new creative approaches to travel photography. I’ve arranged for a flexible itinerary that allows us to have a casual approach and maximize our photo time so that we get photographs, not snapshots. For 2018, I’ve listened to your feedback and I’m taking smaller groups (6-8) for a more personalized experience. I’m also offering more birding safaris, as it’s something many people have been asking about. I’m also offering photo tours, including another photo cruise to Alaska!
My philosophy is simple: photography is a craft. I believe you learn the most when you immerse yourself in the complete workflow of photography (visualization/capture/processing) for more than just a morning or afternoon.
On my tours and safaris, we focus on more than just taking pictures. It’s about the experience itself. I hope you’ll find the time to join me in the field soon!
