Jason Odell’s 2020 International photo Tour Schedule

Wander the World with Your Camera

Join Jason Odell on an international photo tour in 2020

I’m offering three international photo tours for 2020, and they are going to be really fun! My 2020 travel photography workshop destinations include Croatia, Ireland, and Panama. I design each of these tours with your comfort in mind, and my goal is to make sure that you return home with incredible photos. Group sizes are generally capped at 12 or fewer photographers, and when land tours are involved, we’ll have a private driver and excess seating capacity so that everyone has room for their camera bags. My international tours are a great opportunity to learn mobile workflow and creative travel photography techniques, including long exposure, infrared, and creative composition.

The Albert Memorial, London, UK

Here’s another photograph from my recent travel photography workshop in London. The Albert memorial stands in tribute to Queen Victoria’s late prince consort. On this unusually cloudless afternoon in London, we waited until early evening to photograph the memorial and avoid harsh shadows.

POTD: Double Decker

London St. Pancras station & Double-decker bus
A double-decker bus passes in front of St. Pancras station, London.

Capturing the essence of London

Travel photography is all about capturing moments that give a distinct feeling of place. In London, there’s nothing more distinctive than the red double-decker busses that roam the city streets. On this picture-postcard day, I chose to capture the motion of the bus with a long exposure (learn how here). Even though the bus is blurred, the viewer knows exactly what it is and where I’m at. The beautiful architecture of St. Pancras station creates a great backdrop.

POTD: Sacré-COEUR Infrared

I’m back in Colorado after leading an incredible photo tour of London & Paris. My clients and I had so much fun photographing and exploring these cities as part of my creative travel photo workshop series. I always like to pack my infrared camera when I’m traveling, because it’s a great way to capture a popular subject in a totally unique way. To that effect, we had great skies during our morning at Montmartre, where we visited Sacré-Coeur. It was the perfect conditions for infrared photography.

Photographing the Galápagos

What to expect and what to bring for the photographic experience of a lifetime

Blue-footed boobie, Galápagos. Yes, they really do have blue feet!

I just returned from what I can only describe as the most immersive wildlife photography experience ever; a 7-night tour of the Galápagos archipelago by chartered yacht. The one thing I discovered when researching this trip is that everyone seems to have a different opinion of what to expect and what to bring. Here’s my thoughts from a photographer’s point of view as to what to bring and what to expect.
