My third annual Rocky Mountain Wildflower photo safari will be held July 9-12 in Crested Butte, Colorado. I have two seats available for photographers who wish to immerse themselves in the beauty of the Rockies while photographing the colorful wildflower blooms there. I’ve designed this safari to be low-impact. No hiking or off-roading is required. We will focus our efforts on creative close-up/macro techniques, as well as other creative ways of capturing Colorado’s summer colors.
Booking deadline is June 24th, so reserve your seat soon!
I’m finishing up my spring workshop to Old Car City USA, and we had an amazing time. You really need to spend at least two days here in order to satisfy your photographic appetite. This hood ornament from a 1950’s vintage Cadillac really stood out to me. I applied textures to it to create a more unique final effect. The theme I’m stressing with my clients is that a photograph is something that you make, not just take.
Here’s a shot I got in south Texas using the 200-500mm f/5.6E VR Nikkor near its minimum focus distance of 2.2 meters, showing the good magnification you can get with this lens, especially on a DX Nikon body like the D500. This image is un-cropped, and wouldn’t have been possible with a standard 500mm telephoto without extension tubes.
Colorado wildflower & macro workshop July 20-23, 2016
Due to a cancellation, I now have an open seat for my Colorado Wildflower & Macro Workshop, July 20-23, 2016 in Crested Butte, Colorado. Summer wildflowers are always a wonderful subject here in Colorado; I hope you can join me!
Update 10 May: The workshop is currently full. Contact me to be added to the waiting list.
Due to unexpected events, I’ve had to reschedule the Old Car City Creative Workshop to November 4-5, 2016. The itinerary and topics remain the same… macro, rust, and lots of vintage cars!
