The (BIF) BullsEye is an Arca-Swiss compatible shoulder stock for action photography

I’m pleased to announce that a project I’ve been working on since last year has gone live. After attending one of my field workshops, one of my clients approached me with a design concept to fully modernize the camera shoulder stock for autofocus DSLR photography using today’s telephoto lenses. Thus was born the (BIF) BullsEye™. For the last 18 months, we’ve been building and testing prototypes and now we are ready to bring you this exciting camera accessory: an Arca-Swiss compatible shoulder stock that can hold and stabilize modern telephoto lenses for hand-held and monopod shooting. Nikon D850 Officially Unveiled

Nikon D850: The Do-Everything DSLR?

The new Nikon D850 sports 45.7 megapixels and up to 9fps continuous shooting.

Early this morning, Nikon formally announced the full details of their newest DSLR, the Nikon D850. Most of the specs seem to match what others predicted, and are exactly in line with what I wanted to see!

I’ve always been an “all-purpose” photographer. I like photographing landscapes, wildlife, and the occasional sporting event. The D850 looks like it will deliver the goods for photographers like myself. From my perspective, the new Nikon D850 may be the only camera a Nikon enthusiast really needs. This camera is going to be really good at just about everything from landscapes to weddings to sports. For faster shooting and higher ISO ranges, the Nikon D500 (DX) and Nikon D5 (FX) are still going to be excellent options, but neither of those cameras appear to be the all-around killer DSLR that the D850 looks to be.

Solar Eclipse Photos From Wyoming

Experiencing the Totality of the Great American Eclipse

I made a special road trip to eastern Wyoming and managed to position myself in the path of the August 21st 2017 solar eclipse. What an amazing experience! I had great weather and clear skies for unobstructed viewing. I found a friendly farmer who let me set up in his cornfield.

My Nikon D500 was set up with my 200-500mm Nikkor zoom and  a solar filter and I used it to capture closeups of the sun during the eclipse. My Nikon D810 was set up with the Nikon 8-15mm fisheye Nikkor for some unique wide-angle shots:

Holland Spring Photo Tour Announced!

8-Day Photo Tour From Amsterdam, April 15-23, 2018
Photograph tulips and windmills in Holland with me April 15-23, 2018

I’m excited to announce that I’ve arranged a spring photo tour to Holland for April 15-23, 2018 for the incredible tulip festival. On this 8-day, small-group tour, we will explore the Dutch countryside, tulip fields, windmills, and more.

Read the announcement here

Our itinerary includes five nights in Amsterdam, plus three nights in the countryside exploring smaller towns and the coast. We will of course visit the world-famous Kerkenhof Gardens during the tulip bloom, and tour the windmill village of Kinderdijk. Our private tour includes a 16-passenger coach and local, English speaking guides to put us in the best spots for photography along the way.

After driving north into the countryside, we’ll stay in the “Venetian” town of Gierthoorn, which has canals but no roads. We also have a ferry to the island of Schiermonikoog, where we’ll have photograph  scenes and colorful lighthouses.

We’ll then return to Amsterdam for three nights. Our final two days will be filled with photo walks in Amsterdam as well as free time to explore the gardens, canals, and museums as you see fit.

This tour is limited to 8 photographers! To book, please call my travel partner, Pat Hand at +1 (404) 913-4386

See you in Amsterdam!
